Description: The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs aims to promote political, economic and cultural ties with the states in Central Asia. This includes cooperation in and through multilateral organisations such as the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), as well as various UN bodies. As it does in other parts of the world, Norway seeks to promote good governance, human rights and democracy. Climate and environmental issues and education are also important areas for development cooperation. Alongside these issues, Norway has interests in energy development through the national energy champion, Statoil, in which the Norwegian state is the majority shareholder.
