Abstract: A need for production and periodic and timely issue of the Bulletin as an information product for timely collection and dissemination of information on water-related, environmental, and climatic situation in the Aral Sea basin with the purpose to prevent problems or disputes arising was addressed during a seminar on “Early Warning on Potential Transboundary Water Problem Situations in Central Asia”, which was held in the city of Almaty on 26th of September 2011. The states in the Aral Sea basin have expressed their support for such initiative in discussions with the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. The Central Asian states have repeatedly shown their interest in enhancing the regional capacities for early warning and preparedness to potential hazards.
