Rehabilitation of Aral Sea

In Kyzylorda region the second phase of the global project "Syr Darya Control and Northern Aral Sea" (RRSSAM) is to be started. According to the head of the Department of regional economy and budget planning Saule Kulumbetova, the project will help to ensure sustainable water for more than 60 thousand hectares of irrigated land, irrigation of pastures and hayfields, lake systems. The project works areas are as following: the restoration of the left-bank gateway controller of Kyzylorda hydroobject, building dams in Kazalinsk and Karmakshy areas, straightening of Syr Darya in areas Korgansha and Turumbet, construction of road bridge near the of Birlik village in Kazalinsky region, rehabilitation of Kamystybasskaya and Akshatauskaya lake systems, reconstruction and expansion of nursery ponds at the site Tastak of Kamystybasskogo hatchery in the Aral Sea area.

Interstate relations

Governments of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will improve coordination and management of transboundary water resources in the basins of rivers Chu and Talas. The project will be implemented in the framework of "International Waters" to improve cooperation on water resources management with regard to sustainable use and improved protection of aquatic ecosystems of Chu and Talas river basins. Within the project three main components are planned: in-depth situational analysis and improvement of management and use of water resources and associated ecosystems; institutional development of the Commission, in particular, strengthening of environmental aspects of its activities; improved monitoring of water quality and quantity.

Exports of electricity

Kazakhstan will supply electricity to Kyrgyzstan at the price of 15.7 tenge ($ 0,087) for 1kWt/h, said Chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Energo" Almasadam Satkaliyev at a briefing in the office of the Central Communications. Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan would help the neighboring country, transferring 400 million kWh of electricity this year and 1.4 billion kWh - next year. Kyrgyzstan, in turn, must fulfill an agreement to provide Kazakhstan with irrigation water during the growing season.

Integrated water resources water management

About 20 new water storages will be constructed in Kazakhstan till 2020. According to vice-chairman of the Committee of water resources of the Ministry of agriculture of Kazakhstan Bolat Bekniyazov, river runoffs have been regulated, where the hydraulic structure are maintained and where can be they be built. By water storages building the issue is going to be solved, which comes on at the overflow of river, mudslides, floods. Moreover there is a row of problem factors as climate change in the world, transboundary water resources existence, the problem purification of the polluted lakes and rivers and also irrational usage of water resources. These problems will be solved within the program "Akbulak" and Program on the water resources management.
